Frequently Asked Questions

1. ARE VERTICAL GARDENS EASY TO CARE FOR?

They are fairly self sufficient as we only install vertical gardens with their own dedicated irrigation system and we highly recommend a regular maintenance program 4-6monthly with us to ensure the ongoing success of the garden. This involves cleaning & trimming each plant, spraying for pests and fertilising. Checking and adjusting irrigation according to the season.
We also replace dead plants at a discounted price.

2. CAN VERTICAL GARDENS BE INSTALLED INDOORS?

Yes they can. We fit water catchment trays with a pump system to recirculate water which requires water level monitoring and topping up by the client.

3. WILL A VERTICAL GARDEN SURVIVE IN A HOT, SUNNY SPOT?

We always choose plants that are suited to the aspect of the proposed area. However plants are living organisms and most selected plants will thrive, other species may struggle a little in strong, direct sunlight, so that is the reason we like to choose as many appropriate species for hot sunny aspects.

4. CAN VERTICAL GARDENS BE ATTACHED DIRECTLY ONTO TIMBER FENCES?

Because fences are usually common property with neighbours they cannot be installed directly onto timber or metal fences. We install timber posts concreted into the ground or for tiled or concrete bases we use saddles. We then attach timber rails on which we secure our frames, so in the event of the fence being changed, the vertical garden will not be impacted.

5. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR THE VERTICAL GARDEN TO MATURE?

At Vertical Garden World we have our own growing facilities, we install our gardens with an instant “WOW” factor from day one using established plants. The plants take about 4-6 weeks to settle in and fill out so very little can be seen of the pots or the frames.
